MASANDAWANA! ASSEMBLEMENT OF CONTROLLERS Announcing the R200K FIFA23 Tournament, Mamelodi Sundowns

Together, Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. and Mettlestate are hosting the Mamelodi Sundowns FIFA23 Championship to commemorate the club’s FIFA23 debut.

We are pleased to announce a big R200k FIFA 23 event, with finals scheduled for Age 2022 at Mamelodi Sundowns and Mettlestate!

In addition to an online qualification for anyone unable to attend the live events, there will be four live qualifiers held in malls throughout South Africa. In the top 8 finale, the top player from each live qualifier and the top four players from the online qualifiers will compete. The top eight competition, scheduled to take place from December 9–11, 2022, at the Gallagher Convention Center during Age Expo, will be attended by the finalists by air travel.

The Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club has a storied past in the world of competitive football. In addition to being the most successful football team in the PSL, South Africa’s reigning domestic league champions have been confirmed to be included in the most recent edition of EA SPORTS FIFA, having been added to the FIFA23 roster.

The competition’s start should excite the esports competitors, according to Mamelodi Sundowns Chairman Tlhopie Motsepe. “Many of the people in our football club are fans of the FIFA series and are aware of the passion that South African gamers have towards the video game,” he says. We knew we had to give our followers and game enthusiasts an opportunity to celebrate with us when Mamelodi Sundowns was revealed as the newest African team to be included in FIFA 23 for this reason, among others.

“With this, we intend to ignite local enthusiasm for football while providing fans of the FIFA series and gamers with an opportunity to participate in a competition designed just for them. We are eager to follow this project, which is our first in the esports sector, wherever it may go. Tlhopie Motsepe continued, “I would want to express my gratitude to our board, partners, and employees for helping us make this possible.

The timing of this competition is perfect, as the 2022 FIFA World Cup is about to begin in a few days.

Barry Louzada, managing director of Mettlestate, is pleased with the football team’s commitment to esports. “More often than not, traditional sports and esports have parallels. FIFA 23 is the ideal illustration of this. We are thrilled to see the Mamelodi Sundowns soccer team participating in this well-known worldwide competition. However, the club is going over and above by aggressively promoting and supporting esports. This kind of competition is just what South Africa’s FIFA landscape needs: commitment and chance.
