Unhappy Chelsea star Sterling is set to make a surprise transfer to Aston Villa; the forward is prepared to “take a wage cut.”

Prior to the transfer deadline, Aston Villa is reportedly “monitoring the situation” involving Chelsea striker Raheem Sterling’s future.

Sterling’s future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt after his representatives made a statement challenging the decision to leave him out of the Blues squad for Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City.

“Raheem Sterling is contracted to Chelsea Football Club for the next three years,” the statement stated.

“To conduct individual training, he returned to England two weeks ahead of schedule. Under the new coach, with whom he has established a good working relationship, he has had a successful preseason.”

“We expected Raheem to be involved in some way in this weekend’s match, given his inclusion in official club pre-match material this week. He is committed, as ever, to delivering at the highest level for Chelsea FC and the fans, who he holds in high regard.”

“since a camp, we are eager to get more information on the situation since we have always had positive communication and assurances from Chelsea FC regarding Raheem’s future at the club. We will keep assisting Raheem in his efforts to get the new season off to a good start up until then.

Rumors currently circulate that the England international, having been informed by head coach Enzo Maresca that he is not in his plans, has no expectation of playing for Chelsea this season.

According to the Press Association, Sterling was not surprised by his absence versus Man City since, after Friday’s training session, Maresca informed him that he was not part of his plans and that he should consider his choices.

Juventus, the reigning Serie A powerhouse, has reportedly expressed interest in the former forward for Liverpool and Manchester City. However, former CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs maintains that Aston Villa is suddenly displaying unexpected interest in the player.

“So the reality for Sterling now might appear frozen out but if the window shuts and he’s still at Chelsea, it might be a slightly different situation,” Jacobs stated on the London Is Blue podcast.

“I’ve been informed that Juventus, the team that has been frequently mentioned, is interested in Raheem Sterling, but the Sterling camp hasn’t made a direct approach yet.
