Mamelodi Sundowns: 8 players have left! Chiefs and Pirates connected

Mamelodi Sundowns have released EIGHT players so far. Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are lurking.

EIGHT Mamelodi Sundowns players are now former Sundowns players.

Ironically, the Brazilians have let go of more players than Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Despite the fact that the Soweto giants are undergoing major squad revamps. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that several outgoing Sundowns players have caught the attention of Jose Riveiro and Nasreddine Nabi.

Bongani Zungu, Junior Mendieta, Thabiso Kutumela, Promise Mkhuma, Brian Onyango, Jerome Karelse and Gaston Sirino have all left The Brazilians.

Meanwhile, Kutumela as made the switch to PSL rivals Richards Bay.

Furthermore, Mendieta has moved to Greek Super League club, Volos NPS.

Now, Angolan international Antonio Cacotila had reportedly also left, according to the same publication.

Initially, Chiefs were the first side to show interest. In fact, they were waiting for Sundowns to make a decision on Sirino’s future.

“Negotiations may not have started but Chiefs are interested and he is on their shopping list for next season,” the insider stated on SNL.

Now, with The Brazilians having parted ways with Sirini Amakhosi are expected to make an offer. Surprisingly, it is their rivals, Pirates, who are strongly favoured to sign him.

“The indications at the moment is that although Sirino is in his country they are talking to him through his representatives and that things are looking positive,” an insider told Soccer Laduma.

“For now I can’t say much about what is happening with Kaizer Chiefs but as for Pirates they want to bring him in as soon as possible,” he added.

“They would have liked him to join the team in Spain but it doesn’t look possible due to time limitations as well as visas. But he is expected to come to South Africa as soon as he can,” he continued.
