Wrexham interested in signing free agent after Phil Parkinson hinted January deal collapsed

As Phil Parkinson gets ready for life in League One, Wrexham needs fresh recruits, and this summer, one January target is still being watched.

It’s been amazing to see back-to-back promotions, which is something that not many fan bases get to celebrate.

The back-to-back promotions come with a harsh truth, though, and that is that Wrexham must significantly improve over the next three months.

Just over a year ago, Wrexham was a National League team, so significant improvements are needed to keep up with their quick ascent.

Ben Tozer, Aaron Hayden, and Luke Young are just a few of the players who have already been let go at the end of their contracts.

Now that Wrexham is prepared to add players to bolster Phil Parkinson’s team, a well-known player is once again being considered.

Interest in Jamie Lindsay from Wrexham
As the January transfer window draws near, Wrexham seems to be putting pressure on a club-record deal.

According to reports, Jamie Lindsay, a midfielder for Rotherham United, is a target for Wrexham.

A deal would have cost far more than the £300,000 Wrexham spent on Ollie Palmer, but problems with the transfer or insufficient time prevented it from happening.

Parkinson did point out that Wrexham was thought to have lost out on a late deal, with Lindsay being the player in question.

Given that Lindsay’s contract with Rotherham expires on June 30th, this presents an opportunity for Wrexham to reach an agreement.

Lindsay has confirmed that he will not be signing a new contract by bidding the Millers farewell.

Therefore, if Lindsay was ready and willing to sign a club-record contract with Wrexham in January, a free transfer would undoubtedly suddenly seem very desirable.

As expected, Wrexham is reportedly “keeping an eye” on Lindsay with the intention of making a trade, according to The Athletic.

The Scot will undoubtedly have many suitors, but considering Wrexham’s intense interest in him back in January, a summer transfer to the STōK Cae Ras would be very sensible.
